In emergency cases like your car being stuck on the road or the gas tank causing problems, or needing fuel for your lawnmower without having a long trip to the gas station, the most effective solution is siphoning gas out of your car’s gas tank.

Here is how you can siphon gas with ease.

Use a Siphon Pump:

► Play

One of the easiest ways to siphon gasoline out of your tank is to use a siphon pump that is made specifically for this purpose. A siphon pump is a pair of two rubber tubes that are attached to a squeegee pump, on both sides. Here are a few easy steps on how you can obtain gasoline with a siphon pump.

Step #1:

You first insert the thicker tube into your gasoline tank and cover the sides with a piece of cloth so to prevent any type of leakage.

Step #2:

Then you squeeze the squeegee pump multiple times until the gasoline starts to pump upwards to the pipe.

Step #3:

Once you notice that the gas has started to pump toward the other end, attack the thinner end to a gas container or any container that doesn’t leak out the gas.

Step #4:

Tightly seal the container when all of the gas is transferred into it and voila, here you have it, you gasoline siphoned smoothly into a gas container.

Use The Pressure Technique

This method might not be the safest but you can use it in case of emergencies or when you don’t have many resources available around you. These are a bunch of easy steps on how you can siphon gas out of the gas tank with the help of things present at your home.

Step #1:

The first thing you must do is get your hands on two rubber pipes and fit both the pipes into your car’s fuel tank. Once it is properly fixed, wrap the corners with a piece of cloth so it doesn’t leak out any gasoline when you are working on it.

Step #2:

Then go ahead and place the first pipe on the ‘O’ of your mouth and blow into the pipe. This will create pressure into the gas tank and will allow the gas to come out through the other rubber pipe.

Step #3:

Once you notice that the gas has started to come out through the pipe, instantly remove it from near your mouth and over the top from your thumb to prevent leakage.

Step #4:

Fill the container until your car’s gas tank runs out of gas. And here you have it, the gas easily transferred into another container with ease.

► Play

This method is to be used in utter emergencies or when you have no other resources to siphon the gas out. You need to be extremely careful when you perform this because if it goes wrong, the gasoline can damage your lungs severely.

Step #1:

The first thing you must do is attach the rubber pipe to the opening of the gas tank of your car. Seal the sides with a piece of cloth to prevent leakage.

Step #2:

Next, put the other end of the pipe onto the opening of your mouth. Then slowly suck in some air from the pipe and let the gas rise into the pipe. Remind yourself to not inhale that air at any cost as the fumes of the gas can severely damage your lungs. Just suck the air into your mouth, don’t inhale it.

Step #3:

Once you start to notice that the gas is starting to come out into the pipe, instantly remove the pipe from your mouth and breathe out all of the air that you had previously collected into your mouth. Put the very end that you are holding into the opening of a container to contain and transfer all of the gas that flows out of the pipe.

Step #4:

Seal the container tightly so that you can prevent it from leakage. And here you have it, with the help of a few easy steps and a bit of courage, you have your gas siphoned into the container without any hassle.

Use a Mechanical Pump

One of the easiest ways to siphon gas into a container is to use a mechanical pump. The mechanical pump does all of the work on its own so you don’t have to pay much attention to it. Here are a few steps on how you can siphon gas with the help of a mechanical pump.

Step #1:

Fit the pipe of the pump on the opening of your gas tank and make sure it’s fixed nicely so the gas doesn’t leak.

Step #2:

Activate the mechanical pump and let it suck all of the gas into the container attached to it. Once the gas is all transferred smoothly, detach the mechanical pump. Now here you have it, the gas siphoned without any trouble.

You can use these four easy ways to transfer the gasoline from your car’s fuel tank into a container for other uses.
