Do not stop taking these medicines and do not reduce the dose, even if your asthma seems better, unless you or your child are told to do so by your doctor. What happens when you stop taking montelukast?
Montelukast oral tablets don’t usually cause any harmful effects when you stop taking them. At the end of a 12-week clinical study, people who stopped montelukast oral tablets for asthma didn’t report any rebound (suddenly worsening) asthma.
