What can be mistaken for herpes?
Herpes symptoms can be mistaken for many other things, including:
- A different STI which causes visible lesions, such as Syphilis or private parts warts (HPV)
- Irritation caused by shaving.
- Ingrown hairs.
- Bacterial vaginosis (BV)
- Pimples.
- Yeast infections.
- Haemorrhoids.
- Bug bites.
Can herpes cause swollen perineum?
Blisters may appear on the genitalia, vaginal opening, perineum, buttocks, upper thighs, or perianal areas. In moist areas, blisters may rupture, leaving painful ulcers. The vaginal tissue can become red and swollen.
Can you get herpes on your bottom?
It’s possible to get herpes symptoms on your buttocks, especially if it’s related to private parts herpes (HSV-2) spread through sexual contact. In rarer cases, oral herpes (HSV-1) can cause herpes outbreaks on the buttocks, too.
Can herpes blisters appear anywhere?
Herpes simplex: Outbreaks usually develop around the mouth or on the genitals, but the sores can appear almost anywhere on the skin.
