The Bavarian Mountain Scent Hound is a purebred dog originally from Germany. These pups are loyal, intelligent, and reserved, which are some of the best traits for a Hound dog breed. Bavarian Mountain Hounds are commonly used by foresters, game wardens and rescue crews. But they can also make excellent companion pets to the right family. They are calm, quiet and poised. Bred to be the perfect hunting dog, these canines are also known to be agile and courageous.

Size. Bavarian Mountain Hounds weigh between 20 and 25 kg, males are 47 to 52 cm (18.5 to 20.5 in) high, while females are 44 to 48 cm (17.5 to 19 in).

Hound dogs, a working-class dog, were bred to howl during hunting expeditions. When the dog trapped or cornered prey, a loud howling sound or baying was a common reaction.
