What you’ll need:
The basic things include:
- Hairpin
- Butter knife
- Card, and
- Paperclips
Hair pin method
1. Shaping
One of the most famous methods for picking doors is by using a bobby pin. All you need is two bobby pins. First, take a bobby pin and unfold it. Once unfolded, push it in your lock and pull downwards to form a hook. Next, keep it aside and take another bobby pin.
After doing that, with the next pin, you don’t have to unfold it. Simply keep it folded and twist one end of the pin in such a way that you form an L shape. Thus, you will now have two tools.
2. Instructions
Firstly, push the L shaped pin into the lock. Next, turn the pin sideways in the direction you would put your key in. Keep the pressure on this part as you will have to keep it doing it when you enter the other pin. Moving on, take the first pin and push the hooked part inside the lock. You will do this so you can push the various keys present in the lock in an upward direction. The hook will help in pushing the keys above.
There are many keys in a lock so you will have to push inside the bobby pin and feel for the keys. Once you come upon a key, keep a downward pressure on the L shaped pin and push the hooked pin upwards. Keep doing it until you hear a click. This click means that now key has detached itself from the lock. Similarly, repeat this process for at least 3-4 times, depending on however many keys there are in the lock. At each key, you will feel some pressure so be sure to keep at it and push hard.
3. Card Method
The card method is one of the smoothest methods t pick a lock. The downside it is that it can only be used to spring bolt locks. First, you would need to pick a card that isn’t important to you as it is bound to get damaged. First, take a sturdy card and insert it between the door lock and the bolt. Next, you want to apply some pressure on the card and keep your other hand on the bolt. There is a latch inside the lock. Moving on, keep jamming the card and moving it upwards and downwards. You have to keep doing it until the latch distances from the door. Finally, once its away, your door will be unlocked.
4. Paperclip Method
Lastly, we have the paperclip method to pick lock. The paperclip method can only be used for push button locks. There is a tiny button inside these locks which when pushed unlocks the door. Push a rounded pin like a paperclip or safety pin inside the lock and feel for the button. Once you locate it, push at it until you hear the click of the door unlocking. If you are having a hard time locating the button, take a flashlight and peer into the lock beforehand to get a mental image of the inside. This is another very easy method to pick lock.
