While you are on a Google Voice call, you may want to record the conversation.

This is helpful if there is information being shared that you will want or need to review after the conversation is completeFollow these simple steps for recording a call on Google Voice on a computer, Apple or Android device:

How to Record Calls on Google Voice Using a Computer

► Play

  • In your web browser, go to Google Voice.
  • If you do not already have a Google Voice account, you will need to create one. This is quick and easy. Just follow the on screen instructions.
  • Once you have a Google Voice account, click on the “settings” icon. It will be in the top right hand side of your screen, and it will look like a small gear.
  • Under “settings”, find “calls”. It will be on the left side of the “settings” tab.
  • Toggle the “incoming call options” to turn it on. Once the call options have been turned on, answer your incoming call.
  • Before you can start to record a conversation, make sure that all parties have joined the call. If you start recording before everyone has joined, you will only record the conversation of those who were in the call before starting the recording.
  • Once all of the participants are in the call and you are ready to record, tap the “4” button on the number pad. This will begin the recording, and all participants will hear an announcement that states that the conversation is being recorded.
  • To end a recording, click the “4” again. Participants will receive another announcement stating that the recording had ended.
  • To listen to your recordings, go to the “Voicemail” tab, and they will be available.

How to Record Calls on Google Voice Using an Apple Device

  • Open the Google Voice app on your iPhone, iPad or other Apple device. It looks like a green speech bubble with a telephone inside of it.
  • Open the “menu” tab in the top left hand side of the screen. It looks like three horizontal lines. Under the “menu” go to “settings” and find “calls”.
  • Turn on “incoming call options” to enable call recording.
  • Once you have answered and all participants are in the call, press the “4” button to begin the recording. All parties will be advised that the call is being recorded.
  • To end the recording, press the “4” again. Participants will be notified that the recording is ending.
  • To listen to your recorded Google Voice calls, go to the “Voicemail” tab.

How to Record Calls on Google Voice Using an Android Device

  • On your Android device, find the Google Voice icon and open the app. It will look like a small green speech bubble with a white phone inside of it.
  • On the top left side of your screen, open the “menu” tab which looks like three lines stacked on top of one another. In the “menu” select “settings”.
  • Within “settings” find “calls” and turn on “incoming call options”. 
  • Once you have answered and all participants are in the call, press the “4” button to begin the recording. All parties will be advised that the call is being recorded.
  • To end the recording, press the “4” again. Participants will be notified that the recording is ending.

To listen to your recorded Google Voice calls, go to the “Voicemail” tab.
