Clothing stores use magnetic tags as security. This sets off an alarm as you try to leave with a cloth that has this tag on or just spoil it by spilling the tag ink. However, this is not going to be a problem until the tag is removed before leaving the store. Here are some techniques that you can use to remove a magnetic security tag.

  1. Use Wire Cutter

You can just cut it off with the help of a wire cutter or a Dremel. You might not want to spend money on a Dremel in case you do not already have one. It is said that the wire cutter is not going to work because it is usually a lot thicker. Hence, make sure that you get a thin one. However, a Dremel is going to be more efficacious. The only problem with this is that it is costly.

  1. Use Rubber Bands

Another good way to take out the magnetic tag is to use a rubber band. All you have to do is wrap it around the magnetic pin till it loosens up. Now, slowly pull out the tag. For this, you will have to pull the tag from the rest of the cloth. Make sure that you move it as far as you can. This way the ink is not going to spoil the clothes. Now, slip in the rubber band and loosen it. Hold the large part of the pin with one hand and pull it off with the other.

  1. Use a Screwdriver

Use a screwdriver to take off the magnetic pin. Place the cloth on the floor. Make sure that the cartridge faces upwards. Take a screwdriver that has a flathead and place at the edge of the square-shaped pyramid. Make sure it pierces the plastic then pull it up. It is necessary to pop the perimeter with the help of the plastic. Get rid of the silver paper lining and you will notice the metal plate. Now, use the screwdriver for lifting the metal arms holding the pin in place. The pin is going to slide through the hole and tag is going to be removed successfully. However, make sure that you do not use it for shoplifting. This is an illegal act and you might have to pay heavy fines or go to jail.
