- Locate the claim code that is on the card. You will need to scratch the coating off of the back of a physical card to reveal these numbers. The serial number on the bottom of the gift card does not serve as the code.

TIP: If the amount on your Amazon gift card is not enough to cover the balance of the purchase, then the remaining balance will be charged to your default payment method.
