Spotify is a great platform for listening to music, creating and sharing playlists, and discovering new artists. You will need to upgrade your subscription to Premium in order to take full advantage of unlimited downloads from the over 40 million tracks that Spotify supplies, but downloading isn’t the only way to add music to your Spotify playlist. Here are two different ways to add music whether you are on your computer or using the mobile app:
There are two different ways that you can add music to your Spotify playlist. You can download playlists, or you can add local files from your computer to your Spotify account.
How to Add Music to Spotify on a Computer
- To download new music, go to Spotify’s website and log into your account.
- Next, make sure that you have a Wi-Fi connection as you will not be able to download music without one.
- Go to the “Playlists” tab on the left side of the screen and click on the playlist that you would like to download.
- Toggle the “Download” button so that it switches from gray to green. This signals that your playlist is being downloaded.
- To add local files, log into your Spotify account and click the downward arrow in the top corner.
- From the dropdown menu, select “Settings” and then choose “Local Files”.
- Any files saved on your computer as “Music” or “Downloads” will be automatically selected. Click any files that you do not want to add. The selected files will be added to your Spotify account so that you can listen to them anywhere.
- The three local file types that are supported are: mp3, m4p, and mp4. You can only add local files from your computer, not from your phone.
How to Add Music to Spotify on a Mobile Device
- To download new music, open the Spotify app. It appears as a green circle with curved black lines inside of it.
- Make sure that you are logged into your account, and then go to “Your Library” which is at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Tap the button labeled “Playlists”. On an iPhone, this button will be near the top of your screen while it appears in the middle on the Android app.
- Select the album, song or playlist that you would like to download.
Switch the “download” toggle to green and your songs will begin to download.
