  • When you’ve entered an incorrect password three consecutive times, a password will appear displaying a password hint. If you do not have one set, click on the right-facing button next to “…reset it using your Apple ID.”
  • Key-in your current Apple ID and password to and hit on the “Reset Password” button and then click on the “Oka” below the warning message that appears.
  • Type in your new password and a password hint if you’d wish to have one and then click on the “Reset Password” button to change the password. After that, restart and use your new password to log in to your User account.

NOTE: For this method to work, you must have the box next to “Allow user to reset the password using Apple ID” checked. To check it, go to “System preferences” then click on the “Users & Groups.” After that, ensure the box is checked if you would want to use this method in the future.
