It might be too easy to buy a packet of pasta from the store and simply boil it in hot water to make it ready for eating. However, it is not too hard to try making pasta at home and boil it right. Here are some steps mentioned to do the same.

  1. Egg Pasta Ingredients

In order to make egg pasta, there are simple ingredients required such as:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil, extra virgin

Once the ingredients are put together you can make a well in the flour mound’s center. Add in the eggs and the oil to get started. You could also choose to add on dried spices or herbs to flavor the pasta. In case you wish to add on wet ingredients like pesto, tomato paste or squid ink, you can do so by mixing them in the dough and salt mixture before you add the eggs.

  1. Kneading the Dough

Whisk in the oil and eggs with a fork into the flour mound. When the dough becomes thick and cannot be whisked with a fork, turn it over to a clean surface for kneading. Add on any flour that might be left over and start kneading the dough. Once all the flour is added it becomes a stiff and smooth ball of dough.

  1. Rest the Dough

Wrap up the dough with plastic in a loose manner. Allow it to rest in room temperature for 30 minutes or more. You could also store it in a refrigerator up to a day. When the dough is rested the gluten matrix inside it relaxes and can be rolled out thin.

  1. Divide and Roll the Dough

The dough needs to be divided into four portions, small. Working with one portion at a single time, keep the others covered with plastic. Before working on a dough roll, dust it with flour; flatten it with your hands into a rough, rectangular shape. Once it is flattened begin rolling into a sheet long and thin and keep dusting with flour on either side.

  1. Slice out Noodles

Dust out pasta with flour liberally; fold into a flat, wide roll. With a sharp knife, you can start to cut up strips from the pasta dough.

  1. Boiling the Pasta

If you wish to use it then, simply shake out the pasta strands. Dust them with flour. Make hot water and drop in the pasta when the water starts to boil. The pasta should be boiled for three or four minutes with salt added to the water. This ensures that the pasta remains springy and flavorful. At the same time, you would have homemade pasta for use. In case you wish to store away the excess pasta, pile the single portions onto a baking sheet and then put in the freezer in an airtight bag. In order to dry out frozen pasta, they can be left hanging on clothes rack in a cool, dry place. Once they are dry they can be stored in airtight container.
