Do you love nature? Do you admire God’s creation such as the lush green mountains, forests, rivers, as well as flora and fauna? If yes, why not pay tribute to nature by drawing a bird. It is an incredible way to understand nature and look at it more carefully.
The most significant thing for improving bird drawing is to start sketching more frequently. Also, it is important to keep drawing materials handy. In this article, we will tell you how to draw a bird with attractive red or blue feathering. The choice of color depends on your personal preferences.
The Required Materials and Tools
You need a few resources to accurately complete the drawing bird task. First, you need at least 2 paper sheets, a graphite pencil, and an eraser. You also need different pencil colors such as black, dark brown, dark blue, medium blue, bright blue or red, light green, light grey, and medium brown. That’s it. You are good to go.
How to draw a bird step by step
To draw a bird accurately without any flaws, you must follow the steps given below.
Step 1: You must start with a pencil sketch. A graphite pencil is extremely helpful in this regard. This is why we recommend using a graphite pencil. In the first step, you need to sketch two shapes, which must be round. One round shape is for the head and the other one is for the body of the bird.
Step 2: In this step, you need to draw the shape of the bird’s beak. You can draw a rough shape or a more detailed one. Both will work. Also, you need to draw the feet in this step. Add the claws by marking the joints with tiny circles. Make sure the feet of the bird that you draw has a stylized framework.
Step 3: This step requires you to draw the tail. It must be a rough shape similar to a triangle. In this step, you can also draw the tree. Again, make sure it is a stylized figure. Imagine that the bird is sitting on the branch of the tree and draw it accordingly. The third step of the task also requires you to draw the bird’s eye.
Step 4: This is an important step where you refine the drawing of the bird. In this step, you need to join the body and the head with a smooth and curved line. Here, you must mark the wing by adding the backside of the beak. Since this step is known as the refining phase of the drawing, make sure you refine all the shapes that you have drawn initially. Based on the framework, it is important to refine the bird’s feet.
Step 5: Draw the tree outline easily by using organic and irregular lines. Then you need to draw the small leaves to the branch of the tree. To make the drawing a bit interesting, we recommend you draw the leaves in two different groups allowing the composition to vary and make things more realistic.
Step 6: In this step, it is time to add details to the drawing. Start adding detail by sketching features in the wing section of the bird’s drawing as well as the bark’s nuances. Although this is an optional step if you want something interesting and up to the mark, you must add some details.
Step 7: The next step is to color the sketch. We recommend you use a light grey pencil from the collection of pencils colors we told you about at the start of the article. Next, you need to create a color layer for the bird’s feathering with the medium blue color pencil.
Step 8: Use the medium brown color to mark the tree figure. You must add some strokes to the beak of the bird as well as accent the mouth’s inner part in case the beak of the bird is open or if you want to keep it that way.
Step 9: Use a light green pencil to draw the leaves. This allows you to create a unique look for the drawing. To make the drawing more attractive, it is important to use various varieties of green color pencil.
Step 10: Use the black color pencil to refine the bird’s head. The black color is great when it comes to darkening the birds’ eyes and the mouth area. Make sure you accent the features in the wing area as well as the feet. Also, use this pencil to add hatches to the tail.
Step 11: Add hatches to the tree using the dark brown pencil as well as accent the sides using a darker color like the combination of the black and brown to drop a shadow under the bird.
Step 12: If you want to create nuances to the bird’s feathering, use a bright blue pencil. You can also add a light red pencil. Again, this is an optional step and you can skip it.
Step 13: Your drawing is ready. Enjoy!
