Launchpad had been a part of Back to the Mac attempt by Apple.

This was mainly for making the desktop just like iPadPeople who want Home screen launcher on Mac OS and as a means to start, and then search, delete, and manage the apps on your MacHere are some ways to use the Launchpad on Mac.

  1. Launching an App in Launchpad

You have three different ways to enter the Launchpad

  • Click on the icon of Launchpad that you will find on the Dock.
  • Use the four-finger pinch action on the trackpad.
  • Tap on the Launchpad button on the keyboard.

For launching your preferred app, click on the app.

  1. Searching an App on Launchpad

In case you have several apps installed in the system, you can search for these on the Launchpad, pretty easily. Follow the steps given below,

  • Open your Launchpad.
  • Go to the search bar which you will find at Launchpad screen’s top center.
  • Type in the name of the app that you would like to find.

You will see that when you type in the name of the app, Launchpad starts to filer the results. Thus, in most of the cases, you will not have to type the whole app name for finding it.

  1. Moving Apps in Launchpad

In case you want to keep the most used and favorite apps in a particular location in your Launchpad, you can move it around and arrange it as per your wish. For this,

  • Open your Launchpad.
  • Click and then hold on the app that you plan on moving till it starts to wiggle.
  • Drag the app to the location that you prefer.
  1. Organizing Apps in a Folder in Launchpad

Put the apps in a folder for organizing them in a better manner, to do this,

  • Open your Launchpad.
  • Click and then hold on the app which you would like to put in the folder till it starts to wiggle.

Drag on the top of the other app that you would like to put in the same folder till there is a white box around both.
