  1. Prepare the Room

  • First of all, take a bucket and add a teaspoon of baking soda, hot water, and liquid dish soap and mix it well. Now, you have the cleaning solution ready. If you feel that your adhesive will be difficult to remove, then you should add a cup of vinegar to the already prepared cleaning solution. You need to add a cup of vinegar to every gallon of water.
  • In most cases, commercial wallpaper remover will be required, but if you add vinegar to the cleaning mix, then you do not need to buy the commercial wallpaper remover at all.
  1. Apply the Cleaning Solution to the Wall

As of now, you have the cleaning solution ready. Now, all you need to do is to apply the solution to the walls. Let us discuss how the cleaning solution should be applied to the wall.

  • You should not apply a cleaning solution with your hands. Instead, you need to put the gloves and take a wet sponge to dip in the cleaning solution.
  • Now, you need to rub the wet sponge onto the wall in an even fashion. Do not apply excessive solution at one side and less solution on the other side.
  • Once you have finished applying the cleaning solution, you need to allow the cleaning solution to stick to the wall for a few minutes.
  • Now, you can remove the wallpaper paste with using the rag. If you address any stubborn pieces, then you can take a knife to scrape off those pieces.
  • You can apply the cleaning solution as much as you require removing the wallpaper paste.
  • It is better to work on one side at a time rather than working at multiple portions.
  • You can use the chemical stripper to remove the stubborn portions of the wallpaper paste.
  1. Clean the Walls

Removing the wallpaper paste demands more time and energy. Once after removing the wallpaper paste, it is more than important to clean the walls. If not the walls are cleaned, you cannot paste the new wallpaper accurately.

  • You should take a damp rag to wipe out the cleaning solution that is still sticking onto the walls.
  • You should wipe out the cleaning solution in a circular motion.
  • Now, allow the wall to dry or you can dry the wall with the assistance of another clean towel.
  1. Clean the Room

So, wallpaper paste is removed and the wall has been cleaned, what is next? Of course, the room has to be cleaned.

  • Switch on the fan in the room and allow the room to dry completely.
  • The wall should be smooth and it should not contain any bumps or rough surfaces. If you find anything like that, repeat the process.

It is recommended to buy the chemical or commercial wallpaper remover if your wallpaper paste is not that easy to remove.
